Service Opportunities

“You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless.

You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” (Matthew 5:13-16 NLT)

North York Harvest is the primary food bank for northern Toronto.  As an independent, non-profit organization, NYHFB sorts and distributes over 1 million pounds of food annually to a network of 60 community programs.

At present, we are actively exploring the possibility of starting a Food Program Ministry in partnership with NYHFB to serve the needs of our community.   For helpful information, take a look at the presentation below made by Mike Friedman, Agency Relations Manager, on May 2, 2010.

We are currently putting together a team of volunteers to enable us to provide this wonderful service. If you would like to receive more information about volunteering in this future community Food Program ministry, please contact us to let us know of your interest.

Deedz is a ministry to reconnect those who are separated by economic, social and societal divisions.  We’ll simply be handing out food/drinks and offering people a listening ear.  Come be with the people Jesus would associate with most.

Meets on Fridays at 7PM on the NE corner of Yonge and Queen (by Tim Hortons).

If you are interested in participating in the Deedz ministry, please contact us to let us know.
